M-Mode (Motion Mode) displays a single line of ultrasound data over time, producing a scrolling graph that captures the movement of structures along that line. It is most commonly used in echocardiography to measure cardiac wall motion, valve excursion, and chamber dimensions with high temporal resolution. M-Mode is also used in obstetric ultrasound to document fetal heart rate.
