RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) is an ARDMS credential for sonographers and technologists who specialize in vascular imaging and hemodynamic studies. Candidates must pass the SPI exam and the Vascular Technology (VT) specialty exam. RVTs perform carotid duplex, peripheral arterial and venous studies, renal artery duplex, and transcranial Doppler examinations. The RVT credential is often required by vascular labs and vascular surgery practices.
