Brachial artery

The brachial artery is the principal blood vessel supplying the upper arm, running from the lower border of the teres major muscle, where it continues from the axillary artery, down to the antecubital fossa at the elbow, where it divides into the radial and ulnar arteries. In vascular ultrasound, the brachial artery is commonly evaluated as part of upper extremity arterial studies and is also the site where blood pressure measurements are routinely taken. It is an important landmark for vascular access procedures and for evaluating dialysis access circuits that use the brachial artery as their inflow vessel.
