Duplex ultrasound

Duplex ultrasound is the standard vascular ultrasound technique that simultaneously displays anatomical information from B-mode imaging and hemodynamic information from Doppler analysis. In practice, the terms duplex scanning and duplex ultrasound are used interchangeably. Modern duplex ultrasound typically includes color Doppler as well, and when all three modes are used together, the examination is sometimes called triplex scanning. Duplex ultrasound has revolutionized vascular diagnosis by providing a non-invasive, accurate, and repeatable method for evaluating blood vessels throughout the body, reducing the need for invasive angiographic procedures in many clinical situations.
