It runs 14 months, full time, with cohorts beginning in January and July; total lecture and clinical time does not exceed 40 hours per week. Students complete an academic curriculum in echocardiographic principles, technology, physics, and instrumentation combined with hands-on clinical training supervised by hospital staff; students train at multiple Johns Hopkins Medicine facilities in the Baltimore area, with a 1:1 ratio for clinical training, including clinical training across multiple Johns Hopkins Medicine facilities, supervised by Johns Hopkins Hospital staff. Clinical training covers adult cardiac (echocardiography) sonography. Completers are eligible to sit for the ARDMS and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry examinations. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the JRC-DMS.
