Established in 1987 by the Society for Vascular Ultrasound, the D. E. Strandness, MD, Scientific Award for Excellence in Scientific Research is presented annually at the SVU Annual Conference to a member who is the primary author and presenter of a top-ranked scientific paper selected for conference presentation. The award is named for D. Eugene Strandness, MD, a vascular surgery pioneer known as the father of noninvasive vascular diagnosis.
