The Registered Technologist in Sonography, R.T.(S), is a credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). It certifies competency in general diagnostic sonography including abdominal and OB/GYN imaging.

Related Credentials
The ARDMS offers the RDMS — Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, which covers a similar scope to the R.T.(S). Many employers accept either credential. The key difference is the issuing body and examination pathway: the RDMS requires the SPI exam plus a specialty exam through ARDMS, while the R.T.(S) follows ARRT primary or post-primary pathways.
