🏅 Professional Credential

Credential Overview

The RMSK (Registered in Musculoskeletal) credential is awarded by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement (APCA) to physicians, physician assistants, and other qualified healthcare professionals who demonstrate competency in musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnosis and guided procedures. Unlike the ARDMS RMSKS (which targets sonographers), RMSK is specifically designed for ordering/performing clinicians such as physiatrists, sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, and rheumatologists.

Examination: The RMSK examination covers MSK ultrasound physics, normal anatomy by region, pathology recognition, and ultrasound-guided injection technique. Candidates must meet clinical experience requirements and pass a computer-based examination.

Distinguished from: RMSKS (ARDMS credential for sonographers performing MSK ultrasound)
