The Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R)) credential is awarded by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). It validates competency in radiography — producing medical images using X-rays. Many sonographers hold RT(R) as their initial credential before specializing in ultrasound. ARRT also offers specialty credentials including RT(S) for Sonography, RT(M) for Mammography, and RT(BD) for Bone Densitometry.
