Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, characterized by hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology. Ultrasound criteria for PCOS ovaries include ≥20 follicles per ovary measuring 2–9 mm (ESMRE 2023 threshold) or ovarian volume >10 mL on either ovary, in the absence of a dominant follicle, corpus luteum, or cyst.
