Color Flow Doppler (CFD) superimposes a color map over the B-Mode image to display blood flow direction and mean velocity. By convention, flow toward the transducer is typically displayed in red and flow away in blue, though this can vary by machine settings. Color Doppler is used to rapidly identify vessels, detect stenoses, evaluate valve regurgitation, and screen for abnormal flow patterns in virtually every imaging specialty.
