Pulsed Wave Doppler

Pulsed Wave (PW) Doppler allows the sonographer to place a sample volume at a precise location in the body and measure blood flow velocity at that exact depth. The transducer alternately transmits and receives pulses, enabling range-gated velocity sampling. Its limitation is the Nyquist limit — very high velocities alias and wrap around the display. PW Doppler is standard in echocardiography and peripheral vascular studies.
