Vascular sonography combines B-Mode imaging, color Doppler, and spectral Doppler to evaluate the arterial and venous systems throughout the body. Common examinations include carotid duplex, lower extremity arterial duplex, peripheral venous duplex (DVT evaluation), renal artery duplex, mesenteric artery evaluation, and hemodialysis access surveillance. Vascular sonographers and technologists hold the RVT credential from ARDMS or the RVS credential from CCI. Vascular labs are often accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
