The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine offers a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that prepares students to use ultrasound technology for diagnostic imaging. The program includes tracks in general and vascular sonography or cardiac and vascular sonography, with a focus on abdominal, pediatric, and vascular sonography. 2026 Events:

CAAHEP accredited (10-year award). BS degree, 120 credit hours. Two 3-year tracks: General & Vascular (RDMS/RVT) or Cardiac & Vascular (RDCS/RVT). Up to 20 students accepted per year. Competitive admissions — application due January 15.
